Quality vs. Quantity

Mar 17

Since Day 1, our philosophy here at Gracely Girl has always been about Quality over Quantity. We sketch-draw all the appliques, handpick the fabrics and every shirt is hand-sewn. We try and create clothes that are fun for your kids to wear, and we want that fun to last a long time, so we create clothes that are excellent quality. We apply the same standards that we use when choosing our own children's clothing.

But as a new company, sometimes Quantity is important for certain aspects of the business. As a mother of two, I know that I rely on recommendations from family and friends for so many of the decisions I make day-to-day. My network knows what I like and I respect their opinions and experience. This is exactly why we setup a Gracely Girl Fans page on Facebook. We wanted to create a place where people that enjoy our products can come and learn more, or interact with others that appreciate our designs. Yesterday we added our 200th "fan" to the site. While this is a small number compared to many other large brands, it's significant to us. Our fans give us feedback on designs, give us encouragement to keep creating fun stuff for their kids, and they help us spread the word.

If you like the designs that you see here, we'd love for you to become a fan of Gracely Girl on Facebook. It's a community of people that want great things for their kids, and appreciate quality. And if you want to tell a friend or two, we'd appreciate that as well.

Thanks for visiting - Amy

Our newest Gracely Girl "girls"?

Mar 12

One of the things we love the most about running our own business is the ability to listen to new ideas and experiment. We get great design ideas from friends, customers, visitors to the website and sometimes our own girls. Recently, our girls started playing with some of the 18' dolls (eg. American Girl) that are now popular on the market and so did their friends. They loved dressing them up, and swapping clothes to create new looks and styles.

One day, our youngest daughter asked if mommy could make a dress that matched one of her Gracely Girl outfits. We'd never thought of this before, but we had extra fabric from the shirts and headbands and started experimenting. The first couple dresses looked like the ones pictures, and we even made a couple that had miniature Gracely Girl Design appliques (not shown).

At a recent show, Upscale Resale, we displayed the dolls wearing the dresses. They seemed to be a big hit with children that were shopping with their mothers. So this got us thinking, is this something that more of our customers would be interested in?

We'd love to get your feedback. Please tell us what you think. We've started a discussion on our Facebook Fan Page, so please either leave a comment on the blog, or come join the discussion on Facebook.

"The Rush..."

Mar 12

Here at Gracely Girl Designs, we do a portion of our business online, via this website. But we also do a portion of our business at local events around North Carolina. We do this for a couple of reasons:

  1. As a new business, we need to find multiple outlets for people to get introduced to our designs.
  2. It helps us stay connected to our local community, which is very important to us. We live here, our kids go to school here, we want to be involved with making it a vibrant place to live.
  3. We're "people" people. We love meeting and interacting with new people, whether they become customers or not. We love hearing their stories, hearing about their kids, and learning how we could create something for them to make the day brighter for themselves or their kids.

But the last reason we attend these events is something we jokingly call "The Rush..". It's that emotional high that people experience when they find something really special, or they get a great deal, or they just know their child will love the new thing they are bringing home. Selfishly, we like being a small part of that Rush for our customers, especially the ones we get to meet face-to-face. When we're able to provide them something that gives them The Rush, we also get The Rush. It's part of what makes us love running Gracely Girl Designs so much.

So if you live in North Carolina, hopefully we'll get to see you experience The Rush someday soon. And if you live elsewhere, and something from our online store gives you The Rush, drop us a note (picture, video, email, etc.) and tell us about it. At the end of the day, we're in the smiles business.

Welcome to the new Gracely Girl website!!

Jan 30

If you’re new to Gracely Girl, welcome. Look around, let us know what you think.
If you’re a previous Gracely Girl customer, welcome back!
We previously blogged over here, but this will be the new location of the Gracely Girl blog going forward.

We’re excited to be launching our new website, a complete redesign from the previous site.
The new site will allow us to rapidly bring new designs to market and expand our collections for
children of all ages.

As you can see, we’ve expanded the scope of Gracely Girl Designs to now include Accessories.
The accessories, headbands for now but much more coming soon, will allow your kids to add some matching
fun to any shirt, dress or apron.

If you’re in the Raleigh, NC area, we’d encourage you to visit us at one of our local events. We’d love to meet you!
If you live elsewhere and like what you see, please tell a friend and invite them to visit our store. As a mother of
two, I know that the best advice and suggestions come from friends.

Please look around, explore all the new designs, and tell us what you think of the new site.
Your input & ideas are important to us.
